MISSION STATEMENT
To implement a comprehensive and integrated
program that will:

Allow
MBA, MAc, and MTax students to demonstrate all of their content knowledge
and professional
abilities, and earn the respect of others thus ensuring their marketability
and promotability.

Serve as a communication resource to
students, faculty, and the community.
OBJECTIVES
1. To conduct
a course consisting of real-world simulations that develop the student's
ability to:

Write clear, concise and convincing
memos, letters, proposals, and reports--individually and collaboratively.

Interact effectively with individuals
or groups to accomplish tasks, achieve goals, and establish high professional
credibility.

Present dynamically before groups to
convey information and win support for ideas.

Assess self- and peer-performance across
a set of critical communication functions to identify strengths and offer
alternative, positive suggestions for weaknesses.

Adapt communication styles to international
audiences.

To reinforce the communication skills
throughout the MBA courses and within the Accounting Theory course for
MAc and MTax students.

To be available for:
Students
who want help with resumes, additional course papers, and work-related
projects.

Faculty who want to integrate communication-oriented
assignments within their courses, who seek assistance with substandard,
student papers and presentations, and who seek editing assistance for papers
they are writing for publication.

Community organizations and professional
groups who look to the University for expertise in communication-related
issues.
